Functional Fitness for Practical People
Build strength for the life you want to live. Fitness should help you do more of what matters to you. Whether that means keeping up with your children or grandchildren, enjoying a hike, carrying groceries, or feeling stronger in everyday life, your training should serve a practical purpose.
I’m Garron Griffitts, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. My emphasis is functional training: building strength, mobility, balance, and endurance that support everyday movement.
At Reach Greater Heights, we start with where you are and build toward what you want to be able to do. Take the first step. Contact Reach Greater Heights to discuss your goals and schedule a personal training assessment.
What is functional training?
Your program may include:
- Squatting: getting out of a chair or lowering yourself with control.
- Hinging: bending at your hips to pick something up.
- Pushing: moving objects or pushing yourself up from the floor.
- Pulling: bringing objects toward you and strengthening your back.
- Stepping and lunging: climbing stairs and navigating uneven ground.
- Carrying: handling groceries, luggage, and other everyday loads.
- Core stability: controlling your trunk as you move, lift, and reach.
The exercises we choose depend on your abilities, goals, and available equipment.
Practical training. Personal goals.
Personal training can help you work toward:
- Building strength for everyday activities.
- Improving balance, mobility, and movement confidence.
- Increasing stamina for work, recreation, and family life.
- Supporting weight-loss or weight-gain goals.
- Returning to a consistent exercise routine.
- Maintaining the physical abilities that support independence as you age.
Your goals give your training direction.
A program that fits your life
Your program may use dumbbells, resistance bands, machines, bodyweight exercises, or a combination of tools. We can discuss what makes sense for training at home, in my office, or at a gym.
You do not need complicated workouts to make progress. You need exercises that fit your needs, appropriate challenges, and consistent effort.
Consistency over intensity
We will focus on:
- Practicing controlled movement and appropriate technique.
- Choosing resistance that matches your current abilities.
- Making progress at a manageable pace.
- Balancing exercise with recovery.
- Building habits you can maintain.
The goal is to make fitness a useful, sustainable part of your life.

Meet Your Trainer
My work brings together an understanding of physical training and the challenges people face when making lasting changes.
Knowing what to do is only part of the process. Motivation, confidence, habits, and a realistic plan also matter. As your trainer, I help you develop practical exercise skills and a routine that supports your goals.
Personal training focuses on your fitness needs. My background as a therapist also informs my understanding of behavior change and the importance of meeting people where they are.
